If there is perhaps one thing that I can take away from this experience, it is the knowledge that we can never take anything for granted. I have seen how the things we cherish can disappear in a heartbeat, suddenly to find them oceans away, adrift in a sea of memories. My life, my freedom, my happiness, the joy in simply living, the things I once took for granted are fleeting images now, their spirit living in my most cherished memories. The fleeting elation, the sudden joy, the laughter and the tears of this life I so loved, I see it in glimpses now, a favorite song, a photograph, the lines to a favorite poem, anything that reminds me of the life i once had.

Yet amid all of this, I am reminded of infinite power of true love. I have seen how, despite all odds, that love can span oceans. I know that some things are eternal, and that despite whatever comes between us, love will always triumph in the end.
